A non-governmental organisation, Yvote Naija has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for democratising the process of registration for the forthcoming 2023 general elections across the country.

The convener, Mr Abideen Olasupo while responding to questions from newsmen at the organisation’s citizen support centre in Ilorin, Kwara State capital said, “This is a Nobel act having INEC leadership dance to the tune of the people who have entrusted them with the conduct of the forthcoming elections to be free and fair without interference from any party, person or group.”

“At a time that the electorate is calling for digitisation, INEC has taken a step further by embracing the 21st-century dynamics of leveraging digital platforms for registration to give access to many Nigerians in the confine of their locations,” he added.

Olasupo asserted that the steps which include information update, registration, card transfer and replacement, and voter review done on the platform will enhance more participation in elections.

He further charged Nigerians to use this opportunity to elect their representatives in the forthcoming election by sensitizing that the new policy is all-inclusive including People With Diabilities (PWDs) and even gives alternatives to applicants who are willing to register for others without internet or in remote communities.
