Crisis broke out at Oluode Arayin area of Osogbo, Osun State capital on Sunday as suspected armed masquerade attacked a mosque located in the area.
It was gathered that the Baba Adinni of the mosque, Alhaji Moshood Salawudeen lost his during the crisis that started shortly after afternoon prayer.
While the real cause of the crisis remains unraveled, sources who witnesses the pandemonium said the masqueraders who were having their festival stoned worshipers before the hooded gunmen opened fire on them.
Speaking with newsmen on the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi confirmed that fracas occurred between the Masquerade people and the Muslims of the mosque.
“Truly there was fracas that occurred between the Masquerade people and the Muslims of the mosque which led to the death of one person whose identity is yet to be identified. Arrest has been made and investigation is ongoing to know the actual cause of the attack,” she said. (Amiloaded)
