No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead as dare devil armed robbers stormed Ikire and Apomu in Irewole and Isokan local government areas of Osun State to launch attacks on Access bank and First bank respectively.

Residents, who gave eyewitness accounts while speaking with InsightMedia, said the attackers entered the towns around 4:30 on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically.

It was gathered that those who were killed during the stacks were majorly residents who were either at the ATM points or passers-by who were hit my stray bullets.

Total number of casualties was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, but a resident of Apomu confided in us that no fewer that five persons, including the one who died at hospital, have been confirmed dead in Apomu alone.

“As we speak now, about five persons have been confirmed dead in Apomu. One later died few minutes ago after sustaining gunshots injuries during the attack.”

Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident. She said the command is still gathering information on the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode is now at the scene of the crime to lead the arrest of the culprits.”
