It was a historic moment on Saturday, June 19th, in the ancient town of Sekona, Ede South local government area of Osun State as dignitaries from all walks of life gathered to witness the installation of selected individuals who were honoured with chieftaincy tittles by the Olu of Sekona, Oba Abdulwahab Adebowale Oyeniran.

Among those honoured by the monarch was a Senior lawyer in the state and senior lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Barrister Matthew Omolade and his wife, Mrs Oluwadamilola Omolade, who bagged Baamofin and Yeye Baamofin of Sekona land.

Other Chieftaincy tittles doled out by Oba Oyeniran include Asiwaju of Sekona, Yeye Oba of Sekona, Amuludun and Babalaje of Sekona land.

At the event, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of Oba Adebowale on throne, the Timi of Ede and paramount ruler of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa 1 admonished the new chiefs to bring their experience, knowledge and connection to bear towards developing the ancient town and Ede land at large.

Oba Lawal told the honourees to considered their installation as a challenge geared towards bringing out more commitment and dedication to the development of Sekona.

“I want to charge you all to see this installation as a challenge. It is aimed at bringing out more commitment towards the development of Sekona land.

“Ensure you bring your experience, knowledge and connection to bear towards developing this land. Starting from the modern palace to every other developmental projects, ensure you use everything within your capacity to bring development to Sekona land.”

While speaking, the Olu of Sekona praised the Almighty God for making him witness the 25th anniversary on throne, he expressed happiness over the milestone.

Oba Oyeniran called on the new chiefs to contribute towards the development of the ancient town.

Speaking on behalf of other new chiefs, the Baamofin of Sekona appreciated the Timi of Ede and other Monarchs in Ede for gracing the occasion. He said the honourees will do their possible best towards uplifting the ancient town of Sekona.

“On behalf of my colleagues, I want to thank the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Olu of Sekona, other Monarchs in Ede land, our guests and sons and daughters of Sekona land for this honour done to us. We appreciate everyone who contributed to this.

“We also promised to put in all our best towards developing the ancient town of Sekona. To our Kabiesi, congratulations sir on your anniversary.” us
