Editor’s Note: Views and opinions in the piece are those of the author and do not represent opinions and views of Insight Multi-Links Media

I accidentally stumbled on a written piece in the guardian.ng titled “The Travesty of Democracy in Osun APC”. The piece is credited to one strange and faceless Inwalomhe Donald from Osogbo.

The writer is a fugitive, to say the least. Otherwise, a person writing with such interest about a political party should be a member of such party belonging to a particular ward, which confers on him the locus standi to pen such concern.

Anything short of this translates the writer to a fugitive and meddlesome interloper hired by the disgruntled The Osun Progressives to do their dirty job for them since they also lack the courage to admit and publicly stand by their positions.

That said article is a concocted fallacy of attention-seeking sinking politicians and a ploy by the embattled Progressives to win sympathy. It is vexatious and can only be authored by a fellow that suffer acute character deficit. It ought to be ordinarily discountenanced, but for the unsuspecting public who may take it for the truth. There is therefore the need to set the record straight.

The fugitive writer claims that the Governor and the party’s caretaker Chairman do not want APC members to freely choose candidates for elective offices. I challenge them to raise where anyone has been persuaded or coarsed to forgo his ambition.

Candidates can only emerge during party primaries or congresses, both of which are determined by the party structure and extant laws of the land when the need and the time arise. Good enough, the party’s constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic make unambiguous provisions for remedy where there are infractions.

The spurious claim of the faceless writer in paragraph two can only be made by self- acclaimed Osun Progressives whose antic is mendacious propaganda. The allegation of harassment and persecution only exists in their imagination. Their resolve to make Osun ungovernable and unstable is desperation taken extremely far. Threat to destabilize the polity in pursuit of power is criminal and can only be celebrated in the animal kingdom. It’s ridiculous for this individual to make allusion to an attempt to scheme them out when they consciously and willingly schemed themselves through their parallel and unregistered group named TOP.

Instead of the writer and his TOP employers to accept that the APC won the 2018 election with 300 votes, they claimed it was Oyetola, whereas the Nigeria Constitution and the Electoral Act forbid Independent Candidacy. Or are they admitting complicity in the attempt to scuttle the victory?

As it is their practice, the writer pointed out that one of their faceless associations APPPs that is oblivious to the good people of Osun State warned Oyetola to put on hold the dream of seeking re-election. The ground for such warning remains unknown. Could Oyetola be warned to stop re-election for his regular payment of workers’ salaries and implementation of the new minimum wage? Could he be warned to stop re-election for constructing over 60 kilometers of roads without borrowing a dime?

On the destruction of the billboard made by the Secretary of the party, rather than playing to the gallery, why did the revered Alhaji Saninsile not provide such information to the police, or better still, address the press to expose the haters of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who destroyed his billboard?

That is what is expected of a leader and an elder of his status and not ranting through a faceless writer whose name cannot be linked to any ward or anywhere in Osun State.

The concluding part of the piece is the most laughable as it stands logic on the head. Prince Famoodun who is presently the Chairman caretaker committee of the APC and Alhaji Saninsile who is also the acting Secretary were both so appointed by the national leadership of the party and not Oyetola. Assuming without conceding that Oyetola did, it was similar practice under those making this claim.

The Chairman of the embattled TOP, Mr Adewolo from Osun Eastern Zone was APC chairman while Ogbeni Aregbesola was Governor at the same time. So where’s the equity, fairness and justice in their claim?

This reminds me of the clean hand principle in Equity.

The sponsor of this article and the writer know that their action is not patriotic and not in the interest of the APC, but they are propped on by their satanic desire to perpetuate themselves at the expense of others.

Let it be again declared eloquently: Osun people are satisfied with the Ileri Oluwa team leading Osun for another term as one good term deserves another. Oyetola for continuity of peace, progress and development!

Akeju writes from Osogbo, the state capital.
