Residents of Oke-Gada in Ede, Osun State on Monday apprehended an old woman who was caught picking used baby diapers in the area.
The incident occured around 7am in the morning, as the woman was accosted by some residents who suspected that she was using the items for rituals.
According to a resident simple identified as Abioye, the woman by people of the area confessed that she does sell the items to someone within the community. However, the event took a dramatic turns when the police arrived as the woman denied her earlier statement.
“The old woman was caught behind my house this morning at Oke Gada, Ede-Osun state picking used baby diapers, empty sachet water as well. She confessed to be selling all to a man but later denied it when the Nigeria police force arrived.
“Also according to some of the kids in my compound they claimed that this is not the first time they have been seeing the woman”, Abioye said.
Also another resident identified as Halimat told our correspondent that the woman’s action looks suspicious as she started faking madness upon getting to the police station.
Halimat said, “The woman’s action looks suspicious. On getting to the police station, she started misbehaving and faking madness. The police said they will go and search her house tomorrow.”
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident. She said the matter will be thoroughly investigated by the command.
