As against the earlier directive, members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, today continued the sit-at-home exercise in the South East as residents of the zone shunned businesses, movement and other commercial activities.

IPOB maintained that the Ghost Monday would no longer hold every Monday based on the directive from its leader, Nnamdi Kanu who said it should be observed only on the day he appears in court.
The group said in a statement released by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful on Sunday.
He added that security agencies were plotting to attack civilians and blame it on the operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), IPOB’s militia wing.
However, despite the declaration of the group that the weekly lockdown on Mondays has been suspended, people in the region have continued to stayed indoors on Mondays since the directive was first announced.

The streets of Umuahia, the Abia State capital and Owerri, the Imo State capital also observed the sit-at-Home earlier announced by IPOB two weeks ago.
