The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring proper dissemination of information to all parts of the State.

The Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Olaitan Abosede Buraimoh, made this known while on a working visit to the project site of Okuta F.M Station, in Baruten Local Government Area of the State to ascertain the level of work being carried out.

Her words: “The project, which will be the first radio station in Kwara North, is part of this administration’s efforts to give the people from the area easy access to official information, bring government activities closer to the grassroots, and combat fake news”.

The Commissioner gave an assurance that the facility will be ready for commissioning soon as all necessary measures will be put in place to make things right.

Buraimoh, who also paid homage to the Emir of Okuta Alhaji Idris Sero Abubakar in his palace, described her visit as an affirmation of the Kwara State Government’s commitment to and support for the people.

Noting that the project was put in place as part of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s devotion to the welfare of his people, Buraimoh described the gesture by the State Government as a way of giving back to the people the dividend of democracy.

Expressing delight for the hospitality given to her team at the palace, the Commissioner appealed to the people to guard the project jealously as it is one of many more developmental projects this administration will carry out in the area.

In his response, the Emir of Okuta, Alhaji Idris Sero Abubakar, appreciated the state government for its concern about the welfare of the people of Baruten Local Government and the entire Kwara North.

He also commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his compelling efforts towards the social-economic development of the people, admonishing everyone to make the success of this administration paramount.

The monarch also described the establishment of the radio station as one that will unite the Baruten people, as it is nicknamed “the unity station”.

On the entourage of the Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajia Rabiat Mopelola Abdulrahman, the Director Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Hassan Taiye Afodun, the Director Information Services, Alhaji Ayobami Akanbi and some other staff of the Ministry.
