THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IS BACK
After months of hiatus of the elite European league which brings together the best of the best teams from across Europe, it is heart refreshing to know that the wait is finally over. Today, September 14, 2021, the champions league will be back with several matches.
SEVILLA VS RB SALZBURG (17:45)
The Spanish team will be hosting RB Salzburg, the seven-times defending champions of the Austrain Football Bundesliga. The attacking prolificacy of both teams is one to anticipate.
YOUNG BOYS VS MANCHESTER UNITED (17:45).
The 15 times and reigning champions of the Swiss Super league will be hosting Manchester United, the 1st runner-up of the 2020/2021 UEFA Europa League. This match will have prolific goalscorers, hence the scoreline can be predicted to be heavy.
LILLE VS WOLFSBURG (20:00)
The current champions of the French Ligue 1 will be facing Wolfsburg at home. This might seem like a match of under-dogs, but in football anything can happen.
VILLARREAL VS ATALANTA (20:00)
These attacking teams will be pitching against each other in an entertaining match. VILLARREAL are the reigning champions of the UEFA Europa League, thus can compete against the aggressively attacking team of Atalanta who were runners-up in the 2020/2021 Coppa Italia.
CHELSEA VS ZENIT (20:00)
The reigning champions of the UEFA champions league will be facing the Zenit, the reigning champions of the Russian Premier League. It is a match of champions (UEFA VS Domestic) which should not be missed.
MALMO VS JUVENTUS (20:00)
The reigning champions and the most successful team in the Swedish Championship will be facing the most successful Italian team in the last decade. This is a match of success against success.
BARCELONA VS BAYERN MUNICH (20:00)
This match actually brings back memories, a depressing one for the Barcelona fans and a delightful one for the fans of Bayern Munich. The 2019/2020 session saw the trashing of Barcelona (even with their missile – Messi) by Bayern Munich on a very heavy scoreline, 8-2. I “hate to” admit to you that the humiliating scoreline will stand the test of time just like the trashing of Brazil by the German machines (7-1) in the Brazil 2014 World cup. The departure of Messi is another concern for some Barcelona fans with others saying that the team have fared well without him. This match will really be entertaining. Let’s wait to see if it will be a show of revenge or consolidation of superiority.
DYNAMIO KYIV VS BENFICA (20:00)
The reigning champions of the Ukrainian League will be facing Benfica, one of the “Big three” clubs in Portugal (along with rivals Sporting CP and FC Porto) that have never been relegated from Primeira Liga.
This is why the UEFA Champions League has that name, it is an umbrella for the champions of several leagues to come together and compete.
