The death toll from the Ikoyi building that collapsed is now 38.

The Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Lagos State Territory, Ibrahim Farinloye, gave the update.

He said “additional two male bodies were recovered some minutes ago (Thursday morning) making the death toll a total number of 38 (35 males and three females).

Farinloye said the total number of survivors remained nine (one female, eight males).

 

Meanwhile, family and friends of a female corps member who has also been confirmed dead are currently mourning their person.

Identified as Zainab Sanni Oyindamola, the NYSC Corps member redeployed from Borno State to Lagos because of insecurity in the northern state.

The lifeless body of Zainab, who was serving with the construction company, Fourscore Homes Limited, was pulled out from the rubbles on Wednesday, November 3, dashing the hope of her family members who have been at the scene waiting for good news.

According to Daily Trust, the deceased was among the six Corps members deployed to the company. But while others escaped by whisker on the fateful day, Oyindamola got trapped in the rubbles.
