The Olaojo Ruling House of Ifon-Orolu has described as unfounded the rumour making the rounds that the Osun State Government has concluded plans to select a new Olufon of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom tomorrow, Friday, November 26.
The Ruling House made this known at an emergency press conference addressed by its spokesman, Prince Jide Akinyooye on Thursday in Osogbo, the State capital.
The Royal house said the alleged plan was only being hatched by Olurombi Royal family stating that Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs know nothing about the plans.
The statement partly reads, “We dismissed the rumour circulating around Ifon Orolu that His Excellency, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola is hell bent to complete installation process of the new Olufon of Ifon-Orolu by tomorrow, Friday, 26th November,
“All investigations from the Osun State Government officials and security agencies on report of unlikely conduct of the so-called Olurombi Family within Orolu Community has revealed that Governor Isiaka Oyetola and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs know nothing about purported plan to install the new Olufon without due process.
“We believe that the new circulating around Osun State that a political personality from the Presidency and renowned legal luminary is behind all illegalities behind criminalities in the process of imposing next Olufon of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom cannot be true and expect it to be so.
“We still want to remind the good people of Orolu and the public at large that Ifon-Orolu is one of the very few communities with strong historical records and legacies. Therefore, the entire Olufon Royal Family, not limited to the aggrieved Moronfolu Royal Family will never tolerate anything that can rubbish our traditions.”
The Ruling House said it can vouch for the integrity of Governor Oyetola, calling on him to immediately correct the mistake in the letter sent to Odunolu Ruling House.
“We therefore volunteer on the integrity of Governor Isiaka Oyetola and advised the members of the public to immediately report any breach of peace and order to the appropriate security agencies for prosecution.
” We want to seize this medium to take final opportunity of advising whoever might misled the incumbent administration of our loveable Governor Isiaka Oyetola that such commercial interest is against the public interest. Therefore, we request the Osun State Government to make immediate remediation of this grave error.”
The stool became vacant after the demise of Oba Almaroof Adekunle Olumoyero in April.
