Founders of the Jama’atu Ta’awun Muslimeen have dissociated themselves from a statement credited to the Palace of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi where Dawood Molaasan was refered to as the Founder of the Islamic group.
Press Secretary to Oluwo, Ali Ibrahim was reported to have referred to Molaasan as Founder of the group in a statement on October 29.
Secretary of the organization, Dr Tajudeen Abefe Oladejo in a statement obtained by our correspondent in Osogbo, Osun State capital, faulted the statement, stating that a court on the matter is still pending at the Appeal court.
“Without prejudice to the suit pending at the Appeal Court over the leadership tussle of the Society, members of the general public are hereby urged to ignore such a piece of information as same is not only unfortunate but also grossly misleading and bereft of any scintilla of the truth with all senses of sincerity.
“To set the record straight, the Jama’atu Ta’awun Muslimeen Society of Nigeria was founded sometime in 1994 under the able wisdom of about 7 members led by Mr. Shafi’i Abdul Azeez Bello now Dr. Shafi’i Abdul Azeez Bello.
“It is therefore very important to call attention of the people connected with the current crises emanating from installation of a certain title to the fact that the Society would always want to be seen as peace-loving and law abiding organization whose name and reputation should always be preserved for whatever it takes.
“The Society would not want her name dragged into the crises and therefore appeal to the general public to tread with caution in bringing the name of the society into activities not connected with her aims and objectives.”
