Has anyone ever wondered the real reason why the Pathfinder faction of Osun State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) was simultaneously defecating and urinating into its panties a day to the adoption of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for reelection in the next year’s governorship election by the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW)?  If not that there was more to it than meet the eyes, the event ought not to have been a source of a sleepless night for the factionalised PDP in the State of the Virtuous.

Last Wednesday would remain indelible in the minds of the people of Osun State who witnessed the orderly manner that the state chapter of the NURTW carried out the Oyetola adoption with fanfare.  The members of the union who turned out in their several thousands at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo,  appeared in very beautiful branded T-shirts and fez caps for Governor Oyetola to match turned out to be a collective aesthetic sight to behold as the state chairman of the union, Comrade Olalekan Folorunso, meticulously took his time to introduce each of the local government wing of the union.  Prior to the arrival of Governor Oyetola and his team to the occasion, the presence of the organized commercial drivers had contributed to the economic advancement of the area in a geometric progression as there were visible buying and selling of items.  It has been the wish of the traders around that part of the state capital that such occasion should not be a one-off event in order to improve their patronage.

One of the highlights of the occasion was an appeal by Comrade Folorunso to a pressure group within the Osun APC, the self-styled ‘The Osun Progressives'(TOP) to close its rank and join the mainstream APC in order to identify with the reelection of Governor Oyetola in the next year’s governorship election which is already a divine arrangement.

As the electorate are to the politicians what shares are to entrepreneurs,  it would not be an overstatement to state that the chief host, Governor Oyetola, was in his best as he could be seen vibrating glowingly to express his state of limitless happiness on the occasion.  Oyetola stated that he was extremely happy that a notable union like the NURTW  could come out in thousands to endorse his administration.

Musiliu Ayinde Akinsaya a.k.a. MC Oluomo who is the chairman of the Lagos Council and Vice-chairman of South-West Zone of the union, too could also not hide his happiness on the occasion as he attested to the ubiquitous superlative achievements of the governor across the nooks and crannies of the state.

The elated state chairman-elect of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who also appeared in a  customized T-shirt and fez cap for Oyetola, equally appreciated the gesture of the Osun NURTW for coming up on time to identify with the performing Governor Oyetola.  The party state chairman disclosed that the adoption of Oyetola by the NURTW would enable the workaholic governor to perform more in the office.

The Governor Oyetola adoption by the NURTW instantly became a carnival to the surprise of the major opposition political party in the state.  Why did the Oyetola adoption for reelection by a vibrant union like the NURTW  become a gangraine to the obviously factionalised Osun PDP?  If the adoption of a performing governor for reelection cannot be celebrated to high heavens as it has been criticized by the spineless PDP, what then should be celebrated?  The needless criticism of same is a clear example of how not to play opposition politics.  The Osun PDP needs to go back to its drawing board with a view to fashioning out how best to play oppositional role.  The party should leave the mundane issues and target the  real substance.

I am not surprised that things are still going awry for the Osun PDP when the party that is under the watch of the statutorily recognized State Publicity Secretary,  Mr Sunday Bisi, came like a thief in the night to illegally topple the leadership of Hon Adagunodo in a Robin Hood-like movie arrangement.  The rest is now history.
It’s the ripple effect of the Sunday Bisi aborted coup that is still being haunting the embattled party to date.  The recent make-believe posture of Sunday Bisi that peace and normalcy has returned to the party after the party’s national convention is a hoarse.  Such graveyard peace in the party can neither fly nor stand as Dr Akin Ogunbiyi’s factor will ever remain a vital tendency in the Osun PDP.

I listened to Sunday Bisi on Fresh fm radio station few days ago and I  felt highly disappointed in his choice of questionable leadership.  The way Sunday Bisi answered some of the questions posed to him on the programme qualifies him as one of the most tactless and non-witty party chairmen be it local or state in this country.
Being a superintendent over an opposition party, it is suicidal for a party chairman, no matter the price, to have a favourite and showing same with impunity.  This development can be likened to a father who is exhibiting favour to one of his children.  Of course, one needs no Rocket Science to conclude that such home would become a house of horrors like is being witnessed in the Osun PDP.  Where lies wisdom in such a  leadership approach.  What happens to Hon Sanya Omirin and Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi’s governorship aspirations in this regard?  Discerning readers can duly fill in the gap!

In the said radio interview,  Sunday Bisi who stated copiously that he could not see any achievements of Governor Oyetola in the state definitely needs help by way of purchasing of an effective pair of  medicated glasses.  Is it not funny and strange that the achievements noted and acknowledged by one of the doyens of law profession in this country, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the state NURTW, the Nigerian Union of Local Governments (NULGE) and the NUT among others are escaping the lenses of Sunday Bisi all in the name of politics!
