No fewer than 200 women constituents have benefitted from the multi-millon Naira empowerment program of Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, representing Irepodun/Ọlọrunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The women, mostly market traders was trained and empowered with as cash grants and Market Women Cooperative Groups to supports their Businesses.

The participants who had earlier been trained for 3 days on the best practices of business and commerce in the challenging 21st Century business world

The beneficiaries of the programme, jointly organized by the lawmaker and the Federal Cooperatives College, Ibadan, had youths, widows and vulnerable groups in the constituency as beneficiaries.

Hon. Oyewo said that the programme was a package designed to boost the beneficiaries’ businesses and cushion the effect of inflation on them. He said his main priority is to eradicate poverty at the grassroots.

According to him, the programme is deemed to continue as several other beneficiaries will emerge in coming days, saying that the programme was to alleviate the economic hardship of his constituents.

He said, “This programme is in conjunction with the Federal Cooperative College, Ibadan, to train the participants and give grant to women, youths and under privileged in my constituency. Today, what we have done was meant for over 200 constituents.

He said that the programme was the first tranche of the empowerment programme, adding that the next edition would be expanded to accommodate more people.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Fatimah Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the lawmaker for his kind gesture.

Ibrahim Commended the lawmaker and urger her colleagues to make judicious use of the fund to support their Businesses.

Present at the final event on Wednesday are the Commission for Women and Children Affairs, Olubukola Olaboopo; special Advisers to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Political Affairs, Sunday Akere: his counterpart at the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Ogunfolahu Sola Otehan, Representatives of Ataoja of Osogbo.

They all showered praises on the lawmaker fot bringing the programme to his constituency.
