Michael Carrick has left Manchester United as first team coach following his short spell as interim manager of the club.
Manchester United made this announcement after a 3:2 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Thursday.
The club’s statement read, “Michael Carrick has decided to step down as First Team Coach and leave Manchester United following the conclusion of his spell as caretaker Manager.”
The ex-player appreciated the team and backroom staff for the support.
Carrick said, “I want to place on record my thanks to all of the players and a special mention goes to the backroom staff, working long hours with such a great group of people has been a real pleasure and I have made some long-lasting friendships.”
Carrick joined the Old Trafford outfits in 2006 from Tottenham Hotspur and went on to spend 10 years as player before he retired in 2016 to become first team coach.
As a member of the playing squad, the 40-year-old played 464 games, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League, one FA Cup among other pieces of silverware.
