The Board of Manchester United have narrowed down the search for a new manager that will succeed interim boss, Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season to Ajax Manager, Erik Tag Hag.
The 63-year-old Rangnick was appointed on a six-month deal last week and his contract includes a two-year consultancy role that starts next season.
The Telegraph reports that the German, who started his Old Trafford career with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, was only given a short-term deal because United’s hierarchy has concluded plans to appoint Ten Hag this summer.
Ten Hag had, a few days ago, made his desire to take up a new challenge in Europe very clear.
Paris Saint-Germain boss, Mauricio Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City and Zinedine Zidane are the other names linked to the Old Trafford permanent job.
