In continuation of service to God and humanity identified with the life of Late Deacon Noah Olawuwo Oderinu, sons and daughter of the late political icon on Monday launched a foundation on his name.

The Foundation, christened Noah Olawuwo Oderinu Foundation (NOOF) is aimed at addressing the important areas of human endeavors. They are healthcare, education and community development.

The launch, held in Osogbo, Osun State capital, also coincided with the 5th anniversary of Karakata programme anchored by one of the late Deacon’s sons, Adedayo Oderinu.

The programme also witnessed awards presentation to deserving personalities who have distinguished them as philanthropists of repute in the State.

The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade in his Keynote address thanked the organizers of the event for honouring his late friend, Deacon Oderinu.

Alhaji Akinbade said late Deacon Oderinu lived and died for humanity, stating that his memories should be preserved.

Dr. Adetunbi Ige who was the Chief Speaker of the day commended the organisers of the event and gave reasons why it is necessary to give to the less privilege in the society.

According to him, the major impact of charity is to make people happy.
He said charity enables equitable distribution of wealth from where there is excess of amenities to where there is shortage of it to assist the less privilege, victims of war, terrorism or natural disasters.

“I want to appreciate the organizers for this initiative.” He said, “In our own little way let us give to make life bearable for us all.”

Speaking with InsightMedia, Programme Officer of NOOF, Dayo Oderinu said the organization will be community-oriented. He said people at the grassroots will be their main targets as they are set to bridge the gaps in access to healthcare, education and job opportunities.

“We shall be working with some health facilities across the State to provide health insurance for people. They will just walk into any of these facilities, receive treatment and go home without paying a penny. Some will also be brought into our facilities for training on skills acquisition. After their training, we shall give them up to six months to work with our equipment. During this period, they shall be getting paid in order to acquire necessary equipment for their own businesses.”

Among those that received awards are the Chief whip of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lekan Olátúnjí; CEO of Rave FM Nigeria, Mr Femi Adefila; Business moguls, Alhaji Najeem Ajani, Otunba Segun Odukunle and Ayodele David Asalu.

Others are Mr Dauda Oladele, Sustainable Impact Aids, DAB Foundation and Miss Gift Oladosu of FIGO Foundation.
