President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to a bill to establish the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, Ondo State.
The bill, sponsored by the member representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Peter Abiola Makinde, will see the former Adeyemi College of Education converted to a University.
Titled: “An Act to establish the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo for the promotion and development of teachers’ education, make comprehensive provisions for management and administration of the University and for related matters,” it was signed into law by the president on December 23, 2021.
It was passed by the House of Representatives on July 23, 2021 and also by the Senate on October 13, 2021.
President Buhari also assented to a bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management, the first of its kind to pass throughout the entire stages of legislation.
It was sponsored by the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon Mohammed Tahir Monguno, who represents Monguno/Nganzai /Marte Federal Constituency of Bornu State.
The Institute is established to promote, study and practice the proper management of the treasury as a safeguard against fraud, outright embezzlement, emasculation, misappropriation or misapplication of scarce resources placed in the custody of fund managers.
Buhari assented to the bill on December 29, 2021.
It was passed by the House on November 20, 2019 and passed by the Senate on November 17, 2021.
