Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, his Oyo counterpart, Engr Seyi Makinde are among nominees to be honoured as Knights of World Peace by the foremost Peace Institute in the world, World Institute for Peace.

The award presentation part of the activities lined up to celebrate 8th anniversary of the institution and it’s slated for the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja, on January 30, 2022.

According to the Executive Chairman of the WIP, Ambassador Lamina Kamiludeen in a statement obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo, the award jury of the Organization has confirmed the nomination of some prominent people from Nigeria, USA, India, Ghana and Senegal for the international honorary award as “Knight of World Peace KWP”.

The confirmation message was contained in the statement released by Amb. Lamina Kamiludeen, the Executive Chairman of the Institute while addressing our corespondents during a press brief organised by the executives of the Organization on the 10th of January, 2022.

Lamina stated that, the award is in recognition of the tremendous efforts in promoting culture of peace by the nominees, adding that the nominees were picked based on researches and investigations made after their nominations.

Also confirmed nominees Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife; Gen. (Amb) Tukur Buratai, Asiwaju Khamis Badmus, Oba Abdulrosheed Olabomi, Aragbiji of Iragbiji; Rev. Esther Ajayi and Dr. Shaison Ouseph.

Others are Hon. Rashid Pelpuo, Hon. Abiola Makinde, Bar. Pelumi Olajengbesi, Dr. Benjamin Tetteh, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, Hon. Sa’ad Namdas, Hon Auwwal Ibrahim, Amb. Michael Ignatius, Amb. Charles John, and Mr. Rotimi Omotayo.

Other prominent personalities to be Inducted as Fellows of the Institute and as World Icon of Peace are HRH Oba Adekunle Makama Oyelude, Olowu of Kuta; Oba Qomardeen Adeyemi, Olororuwo of Ororuwo; Prof. Sunday Abayomi, Dr. Oyeleke Ajiboye, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, Mr. Fatai Tijani among others.

Kamiludeen added that no fewer than 20 Ambassadors of the Institute from around the world will join the event both physically and virtually, and they shall speak within the context of the theme of the event “Building Sustainable Peace: Goals, Verifications, Strategies.

Expected to speak at the event are Prof. Moji Bakare-Odunola of the University of Ilorin, Voce Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Sunday, and Dr. Oyeleke Ajiboye.

Other speakers are Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli and Prof. Shaison Ouseph.
