The Oasis Royal Academy, a private school in Osogbo founded by Hon. Bamidele Salam, on Saturday held her 3rd edition of inter house sport competition at the school premises.

The school, located at Oroki Housing Extension Agunbelewo in Osogbo, started the annual inter house contest for students few years back but has been on hold since COVID-19 struck the world.

Salam, who is the chief host and proprietor of the primary and secondary school, during his speech expressed his hearty gratitude to all parents and management for working hard towards the realisation of this year’s edition of the sporting events.

The lawmaker recalled that the competition was put on hold for the past 2 sessions due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the importance of the programme, the proprietor said it’s aimed at discovering talents that are inherent in the pupils. “Talents abound in children, the earlier we discover them, the better for us”, he said.

He went further to commend the efforts of all parents for beautifying their wards specially for the program. “This is the first time we will hold sport competition in our school premises, it was being done at stadium before. Now, this is a great achievement”, the chief host stated.

The chairperson of the occasion – Pastor Mrs Roseline Bajulaiye, in her speech analysis how surprised she was, for Oasis Royal Academy to count her worthy as a chairperson of the event.
She commended the management and also each parent for their cooperation and support to the program.

“I am impressed. I am sure we will be encouraged by the athletic performance of high quality in the course of this sport competition”, Pastor Bajulaiye assured the parents.

She pressed further by describing the importance of sporting in human’s life and its essentiality in education.
“Sport importance can never be over-emphasized, asides discipline and academic brilliance that it promotes; it also provides opportunity for people to come together, form a team, friendship etc”, the chair lady concluded.

The sport competition begins with parades. Yellow house was in honour of Chimanda Adechi, Green house honour of Obafemi Awolowo, Red house honour of Mother Theresa, and lastly Blue house in honour of Nelson Mandela.

Match past competition wasn’t excluded as each house displayed their match orderliness in unique form.

Other games that were played include, 200meter race for boys and girls in each Houses; 50meter race, 75meter race for boys and girls in each houses; Scrabble game, Ludo,Tennis for both male and female, Short put for male and female, Egg race, Threading the needles, Filling the bottles and High jump

Both junior and senior students participated in all games and the participants give in all their best to beat counterpart.

Fashipe Samuel, one of the students who participated in high jump contest also spoke with our Correspondent. While appreciating the committee, the jumper expressed happiness over his involvement in the activities.

At the end of the sport activities, Green house came 4th, Red house came 3rd position, Blue house came 2nd position and yellow emerged the winners.

The lawmaker also used the avenue to present cash gifts to football team that participated in the recently held football competition in his federal constituency.

Grassroots Football Club of Ede North got 4th position and they were given 50,000 cash. New United football club Ejigbo got 3rd position and they were N75,000. Harmolar FC of Egbedore came 2nd and hey were given 100,000 naira cash.

While Eyiowuawi FC of Ede South got first position and they were given 150,000 naira.

Officials who participated in the contest also went home with prizes.
