A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, Hon. Ayodele David Asalu fondly called Asler, has declared his interest to vie for the House of Representatives seat of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency.

Asalu made the declaration today when he held a meeting with the stakeholders in Ejigbo local government, his hometown today, Monday, February 14.

With this development, Asalu will be slugging it out with the present lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Bamidele Salam, who defeated him in 2019 PDP primaries.

The Ejigbo-born politician, solicited the support of the stakeholders present at the meeting, adding that it’s a mission to bring more dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the citizens of the constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the contractor turned politician said he has procured two transformers for the benefits of the people of Ejigbo local government, adding that 400 free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms are available for distribution to indigent students of the four local government areas.

Speaking how he wants to slug it out with the current Representative, Asalu said, “he has done his best and I believe these are delegates, they will speak if they are satisfied with him during the primaries. But I believe I can do better.”

The House of Representatives Hopeful also used the medium reiterate his support for the governorship ambition of Senator Ademola Adeleke, stating that he (Adeleke) remains the only candidate that can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in Osun State.

“You’ll agree with me that Senator Ademola Adeleke won the last election. I mean the first ballot. He won truly before they came up with a supplementary result to distort everything.” Hon Asalu said.

He continued by emphasizing reasons he decided to follow Senator Ademola Adeleke, “I am not just following Senator Ademola sycophantically, I am following him because I know he has the capacity, he has done it before as a senator at the federal level,as at then he gave out 250million grants, so when we say we’re supporting him,we’re not supporting him cheaply,he has the capacity and above all he has a large heart ”

Some of the attendees of the meeting, who spoke with InsightMedia showered praises on Asalu. They declared their readiness to work towards his victory in  2023.

Speaking at the programme, Paul Adeyanju called for unity of the party members. He urged every ward leader to encourage their members not have issues with anybody at this time, and also to settle all disputes.

“We will settle all disputes among our opponent and Ede Federal Constituency is for Asler to win this coming election.”

Also present was a former House of Assembly member, George Alabi, Chairman of the PDP in Ejigbo, all ward Chairmen and EXCOS, among others.
