West Africa Vocational Educational (WAVE) in partnership with Sead Africa has commenced another set of free two weeks entrepreneurship and soft skills training for youths in Osun state.

The programme, which started today at Bolanle area of Osogbo, aimed at training 250 young persons on soft skills that can make them independent.

Yemi Lawal, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, whose Ministry partnered with the organisers, encouraged the participants to ensure they utilise the free soft skills acquisition judiciously.

Lawal called that youths should erase the mentality of putting all their responsibility on the government by continuing seeking white collar jobs instead of empowering themselves and take responsibilities.

“If I want to start picking all the young talent to sponsor them with N6M each, where will I get the resources to cater for them from? But I can do something for everybody to benefit from with lessee money.

He continued by recounting how Osun government gave out loan of not less than N500,000 to youths in Osun state but because majority couldn’t used the money judiciously, they later claimed that they received nothing. Many went ahead to lavish the money and they are back to square one.”

Mr Semiu Adabanija, the team lead of SEAD AFRICA, explained that the main focus of their organization in its four years of existence, is to impact and train young people on soft skills that can make them independent.
