Barring last minute change, the Osun State Government and the Nigerian Railway Commission will on Wednesday sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the running of Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo.
The signing will take place in Osogbo, the State Capital.
Confirming the development to InsightMedia on Sunday, the Commissioner for Industry, Cooperative,Trade and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olanipekun said the signing will signal the beginning of complete overhauling of the Park.
He said the past administration had no working document that shows any agreement between the Government and the Commission, adding that the investment made on the Park has not been yielding commensurate returns to the State.
“The State Government has never benefited from the investment made in the past. The signing will mean a new beginning as we shall now have a working document that we can work with.
“For all the years that they NRC has been managing it, the total remitted money to our government is N230,000. This is highly unacceptable and we have said we can’t continue spending on it without commensurate returns,” Olanipekun said.
