The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Commandant Emmanuel Ocheja confirms that the Command has secured a vagrant seventeen-year-old boy.

The Commandant who spoke through the Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corps II (ASC II) Atanda Olabisi, Monday 2nd March, 2022, at the
State Headquarters, Oke Ayepe, Osogbo, said ‘at about 1116hrs of today a public spirited middle aged man, from Owode Ede, reported to the Ede North LCDA Division of the Command that a teenage boy of about seventeen (17) years, Sunday Ademola, was found roaming about along the Osogbo-Ibadan highway naked and his hands tied to his back.’

Mr Ayoola said he thought the boy was mentally ill, but after questioning him, he realized he has no mental health challenges.

He immediately reported the case to the nearest NSCDC Divisional Headquarters at Owode Ede.

The Divisional Officer, Ede North LCDA, Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Adewumi S. O took Sunday Ademola to the Divisional office for questioning and medical observations.

On physical observations, the teenager’s hands were tied found to have been tied to his back. He had bruises on his head, and it was suspected he was beaten mercilessly by person (s) yet to be identified.

After Sunday was given first aid treatment by the medical team of the Divisional Office, he was interrogated and in his words, he said ‘my name is Ademola Sunday, I am from Inisha, Onira’s Compound.’ His name and picture was sent to the said compound but no one seems to recognize him there.

However the case has been reported to the Ministry of Women Affairs, Osun State Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo and from there Sunday was taken to Correctional and Rehabilitation Center, Testing Ground Osogbo, with the hope of uniting him with his parents soon.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Corps II (ASC II) Atanda Olabisi commended the community for their vigilance, swift report of the case to the authorities, and urged the citizens of the State to continue to report any suspicious movements to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence office nearest to them for quick intervention.
