There is a palpable tension at Oke-Oore area of Iwo, Iwo local government area of Osun State as corpse of a 22-year old lady, simply identified as Shakirat was dumped at the back of her mother’s shop in the area.
It was gathered that the victim had gone missing since last Wednesday, leaving her family in agony. The family has been searching for her since she left home.
A resident of Oke-Oore, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with our correspondent, said the corpse must have been dumped where it was found by suspected ritualists.
“She was last seen Wednesday afternoon and her family members became worried when she did not return in the evening.
“Her corpse was found behind her mother’s shop very early on Thursday. Some police operatives later came and took the body away. We later learnt that they took her to morgue in Iwo General Hospital,” the source concluded.
When contacted, Osun police command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
She said police had commenced investigation into the incident, adding that the command wanted autopsy to be carried out on the corpse, but “the family insisted on burying her and we have released the corpse to the family.”
