Two factions in Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State on Sunday met and harmonised positions on the forthcoming presidential primary of the party.
Factional governorship candidate of the party, Prince Dotun Babayemi, had led members of his group to the meeting, while Senator Ademola Adeleke, who had emerged candidate of the party in another governorship primary supervised by the national secretariat, also led his group to the meeting held at a hotel in Osogbo.
The picture taken after the meeting which surfaced online Sunday evening had in it Adeleke, Babayemi and other members of the two factions.
But when contacted for more clarification on the meeting, the Director of Media, Omooba Dotun Babayemi Campaign Organisation, Kayode Oladeji, said the meeting had nothing to do with the disagreement over the governorship primary of the party.
Oladeji said, “They came for reconciliation of the party as a whole not that for the governorship matter. The committee met with the two factions over presidential primary that is forthcoming.
There is delegate election coming up on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for the presidential primary. The meeting agreed on the national delegates. The two group divided the Osun slots, instead of going for primary they have both agreed.
It is the court that will decide on the Osun State governorship primary, it is not true that one person has stepped down for another. (Punch)
