No fewer than six students were reportedly kidnapped by unknown persons suspected to be Boko Haram on Monday, May 2, 2022.
According to information gathered by InsightMedia, the students were kidnapped from the school premises while playing on school playing ground.
They were abducted around 4pm at the premises of a school located at Amazing area of Osogbo, Osun State.
InsightMedia gathered that the abducted students were Sulaimon Muhammad, Sulaimon Azeemah, Ojo Johnson, Wasiu Kehinde, Adewale Biola and Dauda Joseph.
Confirming the development, a parent simply identified as Mr Ojo called on the government to help him secure the release of their children, stating that the development has affected his psychological state of mind and that of his colleagues.
He said, “we have not been the same since the incident happened. Our children are in the captivity of kidnappers and all efforts to secure their release have been fruitless.
Also speaking on the development, Principal of the school, Mr Naheem Adewale said the abduction has thrown panic in the minds of the students.
He explained that the students were only playing on the playing ground, when the abductors came.
Adewale said, “the students were only playing on school playing ground and we started hearing gunshots. Before the security agents could come around, they have left. It was after they had gone that we realised that six students were missing. We call on government to help us.”
Confirming the abduction, police public relations officer in Osun State said the police are working to secure their release.
“The incident was reported on May 2 and since then, we have been working on their release.” The Police Spokesperson said.
