No fewer than 87 members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State are aspiring to occupy the 26 seats in the State House of Assembly in the next general election.
The Chairman of the APC screening committee, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, revealed this on Tuesday while speaking with Journalists after meeting aspirants at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.
According to Ize-Iyamu, 81 of the aspirants obtained forms in Osogbo while the remaining six got their forms in Abuja.
Assuring that the committee would be fair to all aspirants, Ize-Iyamu said the committee members had told the aspirants the documents that would be required for the screening.
“87 aspirants (are contesting) for 26 seats of the House of Assembly. That is to tell you how popular the APC is. 81 bought their forms in Osun here and bought forms in Abuja.
“There are constitutional requirements and there are party requirements, but basically, we want to be sure they are Nigerian citizens. We want to see local government certificates, they must be party members.
“They must be voters, and we also want to know their age, we want to see their educational qualifications, if you claim to be a doctor, you must provide a certificate to prove it,” Ize-Iyamu said.
