Several youths led by a prominent former member of All Progressives Congress in Osogbo local government, Mr Lekan Oyeyemi, popularly called “Ajagungbade Emir” on Sunday decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.
The decampees who cut across many local government areas in the state arrived the Osogbo State Secretariat of PDP in convoy of several buses, bemoaned what they described as disastrous reign of APC in the State.
Lekan Oyeyemi especially decried the arrogant and non-challant attitude of APC government towards plight of youths in Osun State.
Lekan in his words said ” it is appalling that anyone not of Lagos cronies of APC is seen as a second class citizen, even in his fatherland. Such trend if not checked by the voting strength of the youths would amount to ceeding our right to the crude impostors”
The youths promised to do everything in their powers as sons and daughters of Osun State to stand against any form election that will subject youths in the State to undeserved abject living standard.
Receiving the new members, The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle appreciated the new members for their faith in the PDP at this time all hands are being placed on deck to rescue the state from avoidable ruins.
He urged them to to eschew violence in the course of their activities in the party. He however praised the youths for their pledqge to stand firm against oppressive tendencies of APC in the state.
However, there was a mini drama at the party secretariat as some political thugs and a team led by Emir engaged in fight.
The fighting led to shooting at the secretariat. Several party members scampered for safety as one of the thugs was injured during the fisticuffs.
