The Coordinator of Atiku Support Organisations in Osun State, Mr Funmiso Babarinde has said despite recent loss of the People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti State, the PDP will still win Osun State governorship election and Nigeria at large.
Babarinde said this in a statement obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo on Tuesday in Osogbo.
The PDP chieftain said the July 16 governorship election and 2023 general elections will be an easy win for his Party.
“With Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor of Delta state, H.E. Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa as the Vice Presidential candidate, PDP is set to coast home to victory in all elections. The next gubernatorial election in Osun and general election coming up next year will be an easy win for the PDP as a party counting on the pedigree of the personalities that are flying the flag of the party in the forthcoming elections. PDP will have 50% votes of southwest without being too ambitious.
“The former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the most qualified individual today out of all the Presidential hopefuls we have across party lines. He has been a civil servant, administrator, entrepreneur and business mogul. To cap it all, he has been involved in politics for so many years and his involvement in Yaradua political family was known for over three decades.
“Vice President Atiku was behind the recruitment of young professionals and technocrats that gave Nigeria leverage in the comity of nations during his tenure between 1999 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo and those Nigerians are today doing well in international assignments. He has the capacity to get Nigeria working again and fix our insecurity. He was the Head of Nigeria’s Economic Team as Vice President and a member of the Security council.
“The Wazirin of Adamawa is our in-law in Osun and the amalgamation of all support groups in Osun under the Umbrella of Atiku Support Organisation ASO has started a massive grassroot mobilisation not only for Atiku to become President but for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Osun on July 16.

“Atiku is our Symbol and PDP is the party that will form government at all levels in Osun very soon. We have a marketable man that will make winning easy for us as a party. There is no doubting the fact that our party was robbed during the 2018 election in Osun.”
Babarinde said the with INEC’s latest improvement, rigging has become practically impossible, adding that Osun people will not be encouraged by vote buying.
“INEC has improved on the electoral process with the electronic transfer of results and the recent registration and collection of PVCs. We applaud them and encourage them to be more transparent. Osun voters are wiser now and vote buying will be discouraged since APC has weaponised poverty as a tool for political victory.”
