The primary election of the People’s Democratic Party in Iwo federal constituency has been annulled by the Appeal committee set up by the Party.
The appeal was set up after seven of the aspirants who participated in the election, petitioned the PDP national working committee on the process.
According to the stamped and well received copies of the Appeal Panel recommendation obtained by InsightMedia on Saturday, the committee dismissed six petitions from other constituencies for lacking in merit but upheld that of Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency.
The committee said “the petitioner was able to substantiate with sufficient proof of fraudulent and illegally disenfranchisement of 4 delegates from his strong hold, and they were replaced by strange people during the voting exercise.”
*Having gone through the evidences presented to the Appeal Committee by Mr. Lukman Ayodeji Bello in the Iwo/Olaoluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency, as attached, the committee recommends that the election into the Iwo/Olaoluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency for the House of Representatives should be canceled and a re-run conducted as deemed fit by the National Working Committee since NWC has the final say on any election.”
PDP National Working Committees through Directorate of Organization and Mobilization had received the report on the 30th of May 2022, while aspirants and all the members of the party are waiting for the approval of the NWC.
