The convener of Pentecost Day in Osun State, Bishop Mike Bamidele has called on churches, mosques to get their member trained to combat security challenges.
Bishop Bamidele said this on Monday in Osogbo, Osun State capital during the celebration of this year’s Pentecost Day.
Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday, a wonderful opportunity for family worship, discussions about church and the Holy Spirit.
The Osun Christians and other Ministers of God convened at the event, some ministers also spoke on the gory recent happenings in the country.
Speaking with InsightMedia, Bishop Bamidele, condemned in strong terms the attacks on churches which have been rampant in the recent times.
He recommended training for youths on how to counter terrorism, training for schools, churches, mosques and communities.
“All retired military men, police officers in all geo-political zones of Nigeria, should devise strategies for safety in their environment, and youths should be trained, if need be enlist them into the military. Everyone should have a knowledge on how to counter terrorism at this stage of our lives”,he said.
The Bishop condemned the on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, describing it as “devastating’. He therefore, encouraged the Christians not to lose hope in God, declaring that “God is the paramount security.”
Also speaking, Bishop Dennis Abidakun, a minister who was also present at the event, described the massacre of Owo, as the wickedness of the devil.

Bishop Dennis said “the incident showed that the government had less concerned for the citizens of Nigeria, in the aspect of Security. We deserve more and all of us condemn the attacks on churches and religious organizations. Men in power only care about their ambition to rule and not considering the welfare of the citizens.”
He advised religious leaders to continue praying, even in perilous times like this.
The man of God also encouraged the government to provide security in all parts of the states.
