Police in Osun State have confirmed the death of Ifeoluwa Bamidele, the housewife who reportedly set her husband, Boluwatife Bamidele ablaze in Koka community in Obokun local government area of the State.
Ifeoluwa, who got married to her husband last year, reportedly locked the door and set Boluwatife ablaze, leading to the death of the middle-aged man.
Shortly after Boluwatife died at University College Hospital, Ibadan, the police had declared Ifeoluwa wanted for alleged murder as she had fled their residence.
Boluwatife’s younger brother, Bode, charged police in the state to investigate Ifeoluwa’s whereabouts, saying her suicide story was a deliberate act to shield her from prosecution.
However, in the early hours of Friday Ifeoluwa’s body was said to be at the hospital. On getting to the hospital, her lifeless body was lying at the morgue with the lawyer that brought her.
Although, Bode confirmed that it was indeed Ifeoluwa’s body, nobody disclosed the circumstances that led to her death.
Speaking with InsightMedia, the police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident. She said she monitored the situation leading to the death of Ife.
According to her, Ife had contacted some lawyers of Justice, Peace and Development Movement, a non-governmental organization owned by the Catholic Church, to narrate her incident to them.
Ife said she was in Aramoko-Ekiti in Ekiti on Thursday afternoon when she (Opalola) spoke to her through one of the lawyer’s phone. The lawyer have gone to meet her in Ilesha after she was persuaded to come down to Osogbo only for her to give up while on transit.
“Before she died, she informed the lawyers that she had taken some poisonous substance as she does not believe that she should continue living.” Opalola said..
“She had some notes found in her bag and they are suicide notes where she was praising her father-in-law but cursing her mother-in-law. She also said she should be buried beside her late husband.”
One of the notes reads, “To my genuine friends that really love me and give listening ears. Mummy Fife, Dj Whizzy, Mummy Laurel, Mhiz Ammie, Adeoluwafemi, Dimeji, Odunola, Tiara. I love you guys and I am sending this to appreciate your love.
“Omobaba, VP, Alahusa, Fourty, my baby, Mummy love… Please ensure that Teebam’s legacy lives on including mine. Remember IFETIFE.
“I did not kill your friend, you all know I really loved him and I still do even to the point of my death. Do the finding everywhere Omobaba and Fourty especially. I am counting on you guys. Boluwatife will appreciate this so much”.
