The Palace of the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi Toriola was on Friday agog as the monarch and his chiefs installed media icon, Mr Taiwo Adekola Olabisi as the Arole/Mogaji of Ile-Agun, Isale Agbara Compound.
The installation was graced by traditional rulers, chiefs, descendants of Ile-Agun, friends and families of the new Chief. With this, Olabisi has joined the succession line of Ogunsua.
In his address, Oba Toriola lauded the impacts of Olabisi in the development of the town, which according to him, earned the media guru the traditional title. He said the town has challenged Olabisi to do more for the community and its people.
“What we’re expecting from you is huge and this title has called for more responsibilities. We don’t expect you to go and stick to Osogbo, you must ensure you pay regular visits to our town which is your hometown.”
Appreciating the entire Ile-Agun for their good records, Oba Toriola called on the sons and daughters of Modakeke to always put the interest of the town at hearts and to endure they come home regularly.
During an interview with InsightMedia, the new Chief, Olabisi expressed his happiness over the conferment, describing it as recognition of his past services to the community.
“I feel elated and happy because it’s an indication of one’s relevance in his community’s. If someone is not relevant, there’s no way he’ll be considered for this kind of honour.
“It will afford me an opportunity to continue deeply the services I’ve been rendering for my community as one of the traditional chiefs in Modakeke.
“I will continue to discharge my duties to my community. My resolutions is to make this community better than the way I met it in all ramifications.” He said
Rev Joshua Olalere, also spoke with our correspondent after the ritual processes and presentation of the new Chief to the Compound. H expressed his joy and feelings for the ceremony.
“I am so happy, as the representative of the entire family of Agun, I am happy because we’re all alive to witness this great event. It is beyond my imagination and I am so happy.
“I thank the Kabiesi for granting us a beautiful day and I thank God, I also thank the people of Ile Agun, and our elders that are unable to present themselves here today.”
Present at the installation ceremony are the Chiefs of Modakeke, traditional rulers, friends and associates of Olabisi, sons and daughters of the community.
