Dino Melaye, a former Kogi lawmaker, has claimed that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, sees being Nigeria’s president as his “entitlement and retirement benefits”.
Melaye contended that the former Lagos State Governor’s intention to run for the highest office was motivated by a desire to fulfil a “lifetime ambition.”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had recently appointed Melaye and legal practitioner, Daniel Bwala as his spokespersons for the 2023 presidential campaign.
Melaye pointed out that, unlike Tinubu, Atiku is coming into the presidential contest with rich credentials.
He said, “Atiku possesses the rudiments of civil administration and politics”.
“Atiku Abubakar is running for the presidency for the second or third time, and he understands this route better than the political novice Tinubu, who you (Keyamo) are supporting and sees it as his life entitlement and retirement benefits for supporting Buhari, who is running for the presidency for the first time”.
“Although Atiku has impressive credentials, he is not running based on entitlement, He is not running for office because he backs any particular party. He is running because he is qualified and a good team player. He is the consummate leader and talent seeker”.
“Keyamo is feeling the effects of his inactive ministerial sabbatical. Because he wouldn’t be speaking in this manner if he had been a successful minister”.
“Many Nigerians will tell you today that they are unaware of the ministry in which Keyamo is employed because he is redundant, inert, and invisible and because the aura of Ngige, the more senior minister, has fully absorbed him”.
“Keyamo won’t comprehend that the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has several ministries, agencies, and government parastatals under his direct supervision because he has a commercialized conscience and has made money out of his life”.
“He has shown extreme disdain for the office of the vice president of Nigeria as a lawyer who is familiar with constitutional law”.
