It was a harvest of encomiums and praises on Tuesday as the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency commenced commissioning of projects across the rural settlements in Osun State.

The projects funded through the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (Osun-CARES), were sited in rural areas across the State.

Some of the projects commissioned by  Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who was represented by the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Adesegun Olanibi include newly built and renovated blocks of classrooms, motorised boreholes and hand pump boreholes.

Olanibi was accompanied by the Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Rural Development and Community Affairs, Olabamiji Mumuni, the General Manager of Osun CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede, Coordinator of OSUN-CARES, Mrs Yetunde Esan and staff of the Agency.

The Osun-CARES project is a partnership of the State government, the Federal Government and the World Bank.

The Commissioning and Reactions
The team led by Olanibi was first at Elemo community in Iwo West LCDA where it commissioned newly rehabilitated and upgraded block of two classrooms at DC Primary School, Elemo/Adana

The team was received by jubilant community members who commended the Osun CSDA for the project. They described the school as an age-long school, stating that the classrooms will not only increase the enrollment but also make learning more comfortable for the pupils.

It was a similar outing at Ajagba in Ola-Oluwa local government as the community trooped out en masse to welcome the governor’s team for the commissioning of motorised and reticulated borehole in their community.

InsightMedia gathered that portable water was identified as the major challenge facing the community and the borehole, according to the residents, will bring an end to their plights.

A block of three classrooms was also commissioned in Ogburo in Iwo West LCDA  while another block of was commissioned as Community Primary School, Elepo in Ola-Oluwa local government.

The Governor’s Message
Speaking at the event, Oyetola expressed his happiness over the commissioning of the projects. He said the projects are in further testament of his administration’s commitment to social infrastructures and poverty alleviation.

He said, “I am highly delighted to address you all on the occasion of the commissioning of Micro Projects supported by Osun State Government under the OSUN CARES (OSUN CSDA DLI 1.4). A world Bank Assisted Intervention.

“Todays’ event marks another milestone in the quest of our Government to build a vibrant State where social infrastructures are within the reach of every citizen of the State, “as well as alleviating poverty in the aftermath of COVID-19 Pandemic, which left in its trail Economic Hardship, Health and Educational Challenges among others

“Before I end, my address, I must thank you all for cooperating with this Government. I enjoined you to continue and maintain peaceful co-existence at all times.”

Oyetola, represented by Olanibi assured the people of the communities that other requests of theirs, which include bringing of more teachers to the schools will be given favourable consideration in the ongoing teacher recruitment.

Beneficiaries speak
Mr Bello, the Head master of one of the schools appreciated the Governor Oyetola for classrooms, he believes the block of classrooms will enhance the performance of pupils in the school.

He added that they need more classrooms to accommodate the students and more teachers in the school.

Chief Emmanuel Oyewole, Baale of Alakala, who spoke on behalf of the people, also appreciated the State Government and the Osun CSDA for the project stating that it’s still aid the development of his people.
