The Kwara State Government has demanded increased speed in the ongoing construction of the waterworks in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area, and expressed dissatisfaction with the contractor’s pace, despite the fact that the government has not defaulted on its contractual obligations.

During an unscheduled visit to the facility on Thursday, Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Wahab Femi Agbaje (White) said the slow pace of work, which is now at 72%-80%, is unacceptable. He urged the contractor to brace himself.

Alhaji Agbaje stated that the contractor in charge of the project must do more to meet the government’s expectations, especially since the government has fulfilled its own part of the bargain.

Agbaje, who conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the project with his team of engineers from the Ministry’s Directorate of Water Engineering Services, including Director, Engr. Yusuf Wopa; Acting General Manager of Kwara State Water Corporation Representative, Engr. Bamidele Sunday; Assistant Director, Engr. Shehu AbdulRaheem; and Residential Engineer for the project, Engr. Dotun Abioye.

The Commissioner directed the contractor to prioritize some critical project components, such as transformer testing and loading, leakage testing, off-site motor panel construction, on-site motor control panel installation, connection to consumers, and commissioning.

The Commissioner directed the contractor to expedite the project before his next visit in order to meet the government’s expectations and comply with the contractual agreement.
