The Osun Masterminds has counseled the incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and the Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke to allow Tribunal do its job.
The Executive Director of Osun Masterminds, Dr. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, said this during the September Edition of the State of the State Address in Osogbo.
Addressing the tribunal proceedings over the alleged over-voting governorship election that took place on the 16th of July 2022,concerning All Progressives Congress , APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he counseled both parties to allow the Tribunal do its job without the reckless misinformation going on social media.
Oyedokun-Alli also advised while the brickbats is ongoing at the tribunal, there should be no breakdown of law and order within the society.
Also in his address, he stated that the election of Local Government Chairmen and Councillors is long overdue and should have come way earlier than the present time.
However, he endorsed that the proposed Local Government election will be conducted with full respect to the rule of law and regard for the rights of every residents of the State.
He disclosed that the Osun Independent Electoral Commission , OSSIEC, must not be seen doing the bidding of any of party involved, the political parties or stakeholders involved in the election.
“It must not only ensure a free, fair and credible election, but also reflect transparency and true democratic process”.
“It must be stated that all the participating political parties are important stakeholders in the process of electing heads for our Local Governments and must stay focused on the real issues that involved define governance and ensure that citizens of the State enjoy the benefits therein”, he said.
The commission commended the commitment of Governor Gboyega Oyetola on the continuity of governance and encouraged him to continue on his path to ensure sustenance of the State’s growing democracy.
As the inauguration for the Governor-Elect is coming up on the 27th of November, 2022, the commission has followed the activities of the PDP Transition Committee and is aware of The Transition Committee’s decision to inaugurate a Youth liaison committee.
“We, however, advise the committee to ensure that it engages all critical stakeholders in the Youth community, with a view to developing workable youth strategies that the new government can run with when it comes into power”, he concluded.
