As part of activities marking 30th anniversary, the Osun State Chapter of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), will commision an ultra-modern public toilet for the people of Egbedi in Egbedore local government area of the State.

The project will be commissioned on Thursday, October 27.

The one week activities will include Special prayers, visitation to special school, health outreach, commissioning of toilet project at Egbedi, Jummat Service, Jumbo sales, Elders day, Youth and Award day.

The women Muslim group, FOMWAN was inaugurated in October 1992 to propagate the religion of Islam in Nigeria and to empower women in making positive impact in the society.

Addressing a  press conference on Sunday in Osogbo, The State Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Sadiat Oladapo, reeled out some of the great achievements of group on Education, Humanitarian activities and Health in the State.

Alhaja Oladapo explained how they work with Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) on advisory and supervisory in the state.

“At the FOMWAN week, we visited Juvenile Delinquency Home, Prison Yard, Correctional Center, Special Schools and Hospitals” she said.

Speaking further, Alhaja Oladapo added that FOMWAN collaborate with government agencies such as Ministry of Health and O’SACA to promote health programme.

“Health workers among us usually during meetings to Check Blood pressure, Blood sugar screening, personal and environmental hygiene, health talk and refers who need medical attention to hospital. We have also partnered with relevant agencies of government and international NGOs to improve the healthy living of Osun people.” Alhaja Oladapo said.

Speaking on FOMWAN’s intervention and contribution to education development, Alhaja Oladapo said the association has 20 schools altogether across the state.

“Osun state FOMWAN has schools on their permanent site: Eight Nursery/Primary, Seven Secondary, one Vocational, four Islamiyyah across the states. Some of our wards have won awards locally and international.

Commissioner for Human Resources and Capacity building, and former Amirah of FOMWAN in Osun State, Alhaja Lateefah Giwa said the women Muslim group has achieved a lots in its 30 years in the state.

“FOMWAN give financially training to members, empowering youths and women and we have won grants and partnership deals to advance the mission and entrench development across the grassroots.” Alhaja Giwa said.

Alhaja Suaibat Babalola Adubi, Chairperson Humanitarian Services, said the National Humanitarian service taught them go ask the people, what they need in their community.

“We embarked on provisions of toilet facilities on Egbedi community which is our recent project and the toilet was cited beside their center mosque” she concluded.

FOMWAN leadership also revealed that it has incorporated training and workshops for young men in order to boost morality among the youths.
