The Odofin-Iloro Royal Family of The Owa-Iloro Ruling House in Igbajoland has pleaded with Governor Gboyega Oyetola to disregard a petition co-signed by one Chief Aderemi Adeife and Prince Taye Abodunrin under the fraudulent titles of the Head and the Acting Secretary, Owa Iloro Ruling House respectively.

This was contained in a rejoinder to a petition by the above petitioners to the governor dated October 6, 2022 published in The Punch Newspaper and the Daily Post, a copy of which was sent to Osun State Chief Judge and other authorities in the state.

In the response to the petition, High Chief Emmanuel Akano Oladejo, the present Odofin Iloro of Igbajoland and who also doubles as the Head of Omoowa Iloro Ruling Houses stated that the petition written by the duo of Chief Adeife and Prince Abodunrin was done in a bad faith with a motive to misinform the public and subsequently cause avoidable crisis in the peaceful Igbajo community.

High Chief Oladejo who described the authors and signatories to the petition as mere impostors hinted that Chief Adeife is an ordinary ‘compound chief’ who is operating under him as the Odofin Iloro of Igbajoland.

The Odofin Iloro disclosed that “there is no name or any name or within our Omoowa in Igbajo known as ‘Owa Iloro Agbon Ruling House.

“As it was written and stated in our Igbajo Chieftaincy Declaration as amended and registered on the 9th day of March 2005, there were only two ruling houses in Igbajo namely: the Owa-Iloro, where the immediate-past Owa of Igbajo, the late Adeniyi Fasade and us belong and the Owa-Oke Ode, from where we are expecting the next Owa.

“At this juncture, the said ‘compound chief’ , Chief Aderemi Adeife Latilo is now trying to secede to unlawfully create the third ruling house in Igbajo which cannot hold as it’s illegal, unconstitutional, null and void and unknown to our culture and tradition in Igbajo as a peaceful settlement of ages in Osun State.

“Therefore, now it is the turn of Omoowa Oke-ode to fill the vacant stool of the Owa of Igbajo which we urge Your Excellency to act upon as a matter of urgency.

“Your Excellency Sir, all other side stories of the Agbojuomi family and their grievances were not known to us in Omoowa-Iloro Ruling House and as such, we are not part of their submission thereof”, High Chief Oladejo stated.

It would be recalled that the stool of the Owa of Igbajo became vacant following the death of Oba Olufemi Fasade in December 2020 and since then, the stool has not been filled.

The impostor-signatories from the non-existing and unknown ‘Owa Iloro Agbon Ruling House’s as opposed to the legally-recognised and known ‘Owa Iloro Ruling House in Igbajo’ had brazenly alleged a plot to give accelerated hearing to a matter it instituted to pave the way for the installation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, as the Owa of Igbajoland.
