Police operatives deployed to Lekki Tollgate in Lagos this Thursday morning, October 20, 2022, attacked protesters marking the second anniversary of the ENDSARS protest with a rain of teargas.
Journalists covering the event were also being harassed by the police operatives as at the time of this report.
Led by celebrities such as Folarin Falana also known as Falz, Comedian Debo Adebayo known as Mr. Macaroni and 2023 presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, the activists had promised not to father at the tollgate where soldiers attacked and allegedly killed ENDSARS protesters two years ago but to just walk past and drive through the area.
Some of the protesters displayed coffins as they sang and chanted slogans, waving the Nigerian flag.
The event was initially peaceful but the police suddenly started firing teargas as the crowd of marchers momentarily stooped some distance away from the tollgate, put down the coffins and were being addressed by the leaders.
