The Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Osun State Chapter on Sunday rounded off its 30th anniversary with awards to distinguished personalities and public lecture.

InsightMedia recalled that Osun FOMWAN 30th anniversary started last Monday with Press briefing by the Amirah, Alhaja Sadiat Oladapo at the State secretariat of the association. The one-week programme climaxed on Sunday.

The event, which was held in Osogbo on Sunday had several dignitaries and Islamic scholars in attendance as the guest speaker,  Prof. Mrs Labo Popoola delivered a lecture on  Importance of women in Islam and the Nation.

The University Don said education is very important for the girl child and for the future of the nation, stating that the prosperity of the nation lies in the women.

“In building a nation, there is a saying that says if you educate a girl child, you have educated the nation but if you educate a boy child, you have educated an individual, this goes to show the importance of a woman in sustaining and developing the nation”, she said.

Prof. Popoola added that women has a significant roles to play in Islam. “She said before Islam, women are not regarded as human beings but when Islam came, women were given a place in Islam and Suratul Nisah was dedicated to women in the Al-Quran by Almighty Allah.”

She urged women to be submissive to their husbands in order to build a vital nation, adding women will continue to play a prominent roles in promoting Islam and peace.

Alhaja Rofiyat Idowu Sanni, FOMWAN National Amirah, while speaking with the newsmen, urged government to improve on women education, health and economy.

“The condition of nations depends on women in the society because if women played their roles as wives and mothers properly, the society would be peaceful,” she said.

Alhaja Sanni spoke further on security issues affect the nation and women, she advised Nigerian to return to Almighty Allah as that is the only solution. She said, “either Muslim, Christian and traditionalist, we must know our roles in the society. We must all return to our Creator for solution to the current problems.”

She added that Lack of education, knowledge about Almighty Allah and also people hid under the canopy of poverty to perpetrated evil in the society. And she urged Nigerians to support the government concerning to tackle the menace of insecurity.

Alhaja Dr. Lateefat Durosimi, former Amirah of FOMWAN advised women not to compete with men.

Alhaja Durosimi added that “women should ensure that they properly coordinate the activities in the home, women should also respect their husbands and men should consult, communicate their wives to have good homes”.

“When we have good homes, we have good societies and nation, homes are the building blocks of the nation” she said.

Alhaja Oladunmoye Kudirat, Chairperson Planning Committee, who reels our the activities done though out the week health outreach, commissioning of toilet, honored their elders and Jummat Service, Youth programme.

Alhaja Kudirat speaks on the future of FOMWAN and Nigeria, she said “I hope for a satisfied society, a society that would be free from criminal and insecurities and she prayed that Nigeria would be free from insecurities and the girl child would be strengthen”.

She urged people to put their trust in Allah because the trust has sustained them to this level as they appreciate people who have supported them with awards.

Oba ‘Dokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila was honoured with ab award for his efforts on educational development in his domain.
