The Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has adjourned the suit seeking to determine which of the 1979 and 1988 chieftaincy declarations is authentic for the selection of Olufon of Ifon-Orolu kingdom, to December 19, 2022.
The court made the adjournment after a retrial hearing at the court premises on Wednesday, in Osogbo.
Abideen Ganiyu, a lawyer who was present at the hearing, said “The matter for today is the pre-trial conference, during the retrial conference, we identified the main issue and that is the determination in the suit”.
“Which is whether the 1988 Chieftaincy declaration as being contended by the plaintiffs or the 1979 Chieftaincy declaration as being contended by the defendants”,he stated.
“After identifying the issues we obtained date for the hearing, where the case is going to the heard, and it is fixed from 19th to 20th December and also the 25th of January, where we are going to go into full hearing of their own witnesses”.
“Whether is the 1979 Chieftaincy declaration or 1988 Chieftaincy, for appointing the next olufon, the status quo still remains, according to our prayer that we’ve heard before that they should maintain the order of injunction given by the court”,he concluded.
Olufon Stool has remained vacant since the demise of Oba Almaroof Magbagbeola Olumoyero in April 2021.
