One person has been confirmed dead as a renewed crisis engulfed the Ikirun township on Wednesday over the alleged forceful mission to smuggle Oba Olalekan Akadiri into the palace.

The deceased has been identified as Lukuman Omoola, a descendant of the Gboleru ruling house – one of the houses fighting to fill the vacant throne. He was said to be shot dead.

The Akinrun royal tussle, which has been rocking the town for over about a month was renewed when the Akadiri allegedly led other persons to the town to gain access into the Palace.

InsightMedia reported that Akadiri was appointment as the new Akinrun by the Osun State government earlier this month, but he has not been backed by majority of the town including chiefs and the head of kingmakers.

He was denied access to the Palace since the second day after his announcement and the government presented instruments of office to him last week at the government secretariat in Osogbo.

InsightMedia gathered that a section of the Palace also caught fire during the Wednesday’s crisis.
