The 2022/2023 Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Round of 16 came to an emphatic end, with Egbedore United thrashing Aiyedire United 3-0 in the final pre-quarterfinal match held at the Osogbo City Stadium on Wednesday.

The tournament brought together 32 Football teams from all parts of Osun State and produced no shortage of records and eventful stats.

Here we look at some of the stats in the round of 16, as we head into the last Quarter Finals of the tournament.

The eight (8) teams through to the Quarter Finals are Osun FA Team, Odo-Otin United, Orolu United, Ila FC, Ilesa East FC, Atakumosa East FC, Egbedore United and Ede South FC.

There have been forty-one (41) goals scored in twenty four (24) matches played so far at the tournament, an average of 1.7 goals per game. With thirteen(13) of those coming, in the round of 16 encounters.

Three (3) games, Iwo United versus Ede South, Ilesa East against Ife East, Boluwaduro United and Orolu United all ended via penalties, after the team’s failed to level up against each other in regulation time.

In total, five (5) games ended goalless in the tournament. Three in the round of 32 and two in the round of 16.

Ojo Olowe of Atakumosa East FC scored a hat-trick (3) against Ife South FC, thus becoming the first player to do so in this year’s edition.

Alabi Kabiru of Egbedore FC scored a brace (2) in their 3-0 win of Ayedire United on Wednesday, joining the trio of Gafar Mumeen of Orolu United, Dunsin Faloye of Ilesa East FC and Sanusi Gbolahan of Ede South FC, who all netted a brace each in the round of 32.

Sixty Eight (68) Yellow Cards and Six (6) Red Cards were given in the Round of 32 and 16. An average of 2.7 Yellow Cards per game.

The Quarter Finals will kick Start on the 5th of January 2023, with the following fixtures.

Osun FA Vs Orolu United

Odo-Otin United Vs Ila FC

Ilesa East FC Vs Ede South FC

Atakumosa East Vs Egbedore United.

The Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Cup Football Competition was initiated by Honourable Bamidele Salam in the year 2020, to immortalize the selfless, philanthropic services of the first civilian Governor of Osun State, who was a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and an astute Politician when he was alive.

The third edition of the Competition has being expanded to involve selected Football Clubs from the 30 Local Governments in Osun State and the Ife East Area Office.

Adeleke Dynasty FC & Eyiowuawi FC are the past winners of the prestigious Memorial Football Championship.
