Football governing body, FIFA has appointed Mexican referee César Arturo Ramos to officiate the Morocco-France semi-finals game, which will take place on Wednesday.

Ramos, who has been a FIFA referee since 2014, was in charge of the group stage match between Morocco and Belgium earlier in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

During this year’s World Cup, Ramos also officiated the Tunisia-Denmark match in the group stages and the round of 16 game between Portugal and Switzerland.

Assisting Ramos in officiating the Morocco-France match will be Alberto Morin and Miguel Hernandez (both from Mexico), while Venezuela’s Jesus Valenzuela will be the fourth official of the game.

In charge of the VAR room will be Drew Fischer and Nicolas Gallo.

Morocco vs France match will take place on Wednesday at 8 pm Moroccan time at the Al Bayt Stadium. Morocco’s team has been making international headlines since its historic qualification to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup.

With its commanding 1-O win over Portugal on Saturday, Morocco became the first African and Arab country to qualify for the semi-finals in World Cup history.

Football commentators around the world have hailed the Moroccan team for its defensive solidity. The team has thus far only conceded one goal, and even this was an own goal in the team’s 2-1 over Canada in the group stages.

France, the winner of the latest World Cup in Russia in 2018, has never lost a game against Morocco. Of the five friendly games the two teams have played against each other, France has won three and the two others were draws.

But as the two teams meet on the world stage in their most important confrontation, the Moroccan coach has been adamant that his team is determined to produce another historic stunner and qualify for the final.
