In preparation for the 2023 general elections, the Resident Electoral Commission in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Safety, Ipetu-Ijesa.

The Courtesy call that was held on Thursday at the Wing Commandant base, Ipetu Ijesu in Oriade local government area of Osun State.

Dr. Agboke, who said the purpose of the visit is to formalize himself with all the security agencies in the State.

“Being the New Electoral Commissioner of Osun State, I want to formalize myself with all the Security Forces in the State and to raise consciousness about the coming elections” he said.

Dr. Agboke added that Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) won’t assist any candidate to win election.

“People’s votes now counts with the Introduction of Technology (BVAS), which has made the process easier. The process of the election now is now more transparent than ever with the introduction of machines.” he claimed.

Dr. Agboke counts on the support of the Nigerian Air force and other Security Agencies during the general election.

“Security Agencies are very important because Election is a Multi-Stakeholders engagement, security agencies can stand firmly to say the right thing must be done during the election” He said.

In his reaction, Commandant of the NAF Institute of Safety, Air Commodore Frank Ankeli, described as responsibilities of stakeholders including the security agencies to perform their duties to ensure credible electoral process, stating that the NAF’s responsibility is to support and provide security during the election.

“We can’t afford to be indifferance in this general election as Nigeria is aware of the insecurity in some parts of the Country.

Air Commodore Ankeli while promising to support the Commision, said the agency is already preparing towards to the 2023 polls.
