No fewer than five members of Baptist Church, Iwo, are currently in custody after they were kidnapped by unknown persons.
InsightMedia gathered that one Samuel Oladotun and his brother were kidnapped while coming from his farm in Iwo last week. Family and Church members were later contacted by the abductors who demanded a sum of 50m naira ransom.
Sources family with development revealed that after several discussions and negotiations between the kidnappers and the family, a sum of N6m was raised and they were told to bring it to a location in Kogi State.
“On getting to Kogi, all those who went to deliver the ransom were also abducted. The money gone and three other persons abducted.”
Reacting to the development, Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke directed an immediate search and rescue mission for the five members of Baptist Church who were recently kidnapped under controversial circumstances.
The Governor, according a statement by his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, directed the State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to take up the matter and ensure safe return of the victims.
The Commissioner of Police has consequently activated local and inter-state operations to locate and rescue the victims.
Governor Adeleke further reassured families of the victims that no stone will be left unturned to rescue their loved ones in captivity.
