Representative Bamidele Salam, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo federal constituency in Osun State has called on Civil Society Groups and Community-Based organisations to do more to eradicate youth restiveness in the country.

Salam said this on Tuesday when he received the Osun VoteNotFight team in office.

The team led by Jare Tiamiyu, commended the lawmaker for his inclusive policies and programmes.

Tiamiyu said the motive of the visitation was to have the buy-in of the PDP candidate for the violence-free elections and to seek his commitment towards implementation of Governance Agenda for Inclusive Nigeria project.

In his reaction, Salam commended the team, stating that the youth-based organization must go beyond campaign and advocacy to find lasting solution to youth restiveness and thuggery.

“I have been ensuring inclusiveness of youths and Persons with Disabilities. Since 2019 when I was elected, I have appointed no fewer than four PWDs as personal assistants. They work directly with me and we have at different times planned programmes together.

“Let me say that I appreciate what your team is doing. It goes a long way. But we must go beyond this to find lasting solution to youth restiveness. The main enabler of youths restiveness us unemployment. Civil Society Organizations and Community-Based Organisations must think beyond the box to find lasting solution to the crisis of youth restiveness and political thuggery. All of us must work together.”

Salam signed both VoteNotFight and GAIN commitment cards and pledged to ensure that he promotes peace during elections.
