Comedian and skit-maker Adebowale Adedayo, also known as Mr. Macaroni, has urged young people to resist the temptation of selling their votes or Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to politicians in the lead-up to the 2023 elections.

In a tweet, Adedayo warned that politicians who engage in vote-buying will ultimately harm the country and plunder its resources, which belong to the people of Nigeria.

He then advised citizens not to “vote in thieves and looters,” and instead choose leaders who will serve the country’s best interests.

Adedayo’s call to action is in line with the concerns of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), both of which have recognized vote-buying as a major threat to fair and credible elections in Nigeria.
